Ultraviolet rays
Excessive exposure to the sun can cause quite a few problems for tattoos, especially for those made recently. The penetration of ultraviolet rays into the skin reaches the color pigments and can make tattoos less bright and shiny. The recent tattoo, especially if it is still healing, may be damaged and ruined. Avoiding too much exposure at this time would be the right choice.

The most sensitive tattoos
We should be aware that some tattoos may be more sensitive to the action of sunlight. Different pigments may react differently and eventually fade more easily due to UV exposure. Black tattoos, for example, have greater resistance to sunlight while red pigment seems to be the most sensitive in this respect.

Sun protection
In addition to not exposing oneself excessively to the sun, especially if the tattoo is recent or still healing, it would be very useful to apply sunscreen with SPF protection of 50+ or higher to the affected area.

The mistakes to avoid
The main mistakes not to make when sunbathing with recent tattoos: not putting on sunscreen alone with adequate protection, rushing the sun exposure time and over-exposure, swimming in the pool or sea.
