A study presented at the 2023 edition of 'Nutrition', the annual meeting of the American Society for Nutrition, suggested eight tips for living longer and healthier.
The purpose of the tips is not so much to suggest cures but ways to prevent diseases. The eight tips are the result of the study of more than 700,000 American veterans and if followed, could enable people to extend their lives by about 20 years.
It is further confirmed, therefore, that lifestyle has a major impact not only on the length but also on the quality of a person's existence.

The eight tips are the result of the study of more than 700,000 American veterans and if followed, could allow one to extend one's life by about 20 years. Thus, it is further confirmed that lifestyle greatly affects not only the length but also the quality of a person's existence.
The healthy habits that have been noted in most of the subjects aged between 40 and 99 are: not smoking, following a healthy diet, being physically active, being able to handle stress well.
Other habits included not drinking regularly, having positive social relationships, not having opioid addictions and having good sleep hygiene.
Among the subjects who participated in the research, men who had all eight of the reported habits by the age of 40, then lived an average of 24 years longer than those who had none. For women, with the same condition, the additional years were 21.
